Educational Programmes for Children

English Time - Starting with English in Kindergartens

Age: 3-7 years
Frequency: 1x or 2x a week
Length: 20-30 minutes
Number of children in a group: max. 28
Location: Kindergarten

Course Outline:

These courses are especially prepared for larger groups of children from 3 to 7, who know each other and are used to one another due to spending time together every day in the kindergarten. A native English speaking teacher (NEST) trained in methodology comes to children's normal classroom. The class teacher is also present, helping with organisation, maintaining both order and continuity with the regular kindergarten programme. Children are thus not removed from their natural environment, which prevents adaptation problems. Based on the kindergarten's interest, course content can be adjusted to the topics of individual kindergarten's educational programmes.

When working with the children, teachers use the efficient Wattsenglish method, based on natural language acquisition - in the form of controlled games and entertaining activities, they create an atmosphere the children are used to. They play games, repeat rhymes, sing together, etc... Despite the fact that the teacher cannot work with individual children one at a time as much as in other courses, the children can still make significant progress. They motivate each other, enjoying the games as a group. Staying in their everyday environment, with their own teacher, makes them feel safe and confident.

English Time - Starting with English in Elementary Schools

Age: 6-11 years
Frequency: 1x or 2x a week
Length: 15-45 minutes
Number of children in a group: max. 30
Location: Elementary School

Characteristics:

These courses are part of the regular English lessons at the school, where children are visited by one of our teachers - a native English speaking teacher, specially trained to work with this age group. In cooperation with their English teacher, the programme is prepared so that it continues to give practice to the topics dealt with during normal school lessons. Since the entire class attends the lesson, it is prepared for a large number of children. The English teacher is present at all times, helping with organisation and maintaining discipline if required.

When working with the children, the teacher uses the efficient and proven Wattsenglish method, based on natural language acquisition. This programme represents a great supplement to 'traditional' lessons. Children chiefly learn to react and communicate spontaneously. In contact with a native English speaking teacher, children practise proper pronunciation and comprehension. Meeting a native English speaking teacher is highly motivating for the children, as they can put their English language skills to the test.

English Club

Age: 12-16 years
Frequency: 1x or 2x a week
Length: 45 minutes
Number of children in a group: max. 12
Location: Either an elementary school or a Wattsenglish Language Centre

Characteristics:

English Club is intended for senior elementary school students. Once a week, a qualified native English speaking teacher prepares a lesson for a small group of students. Here, at first, they test their mutual ability to understand each other without perfect knowledge. They overcome their shyness, and soon they are able to start communicating effectively. A programme managed by a native English speaking teacher motivates students to learn the foreign language. It provides them with active communication, deliberately and purposefully using their language skills in practice. The Wattsenglish method focuses on natural acquisition. It therefore uses situations as close to students' interests and real life as possible. While reading and writing based tasks are not avoided in games where such skills are meaningful, the priorities are listening and active communication. In addition, it is highly convenient that the lessons take place at school, at times adjusted to students' schedules, making it unnecessary for them to commute.
