Kindergartens
Mini-kindergarten
Age: 3-7 years
Frequency: 1x to 5x a week; may be combined with attending a kindergarten
Length: max. 5 hours
Number of children in a group: max. 16
Location: Language Centre
Characteristics:
A half-day programme run by a teacher together with a native English speaking teacher trained in appropriate methodology. The bilingual environment allows children to acquire the foreign language similarly to their mother tongue. The programme is similar to a regular kindergarten. Children meet in the morning. After a snack, there comes a language input session in the form of methodologically-managed activities and games focused on teaching English using the Wattsenglish method: Group singing, chanting, creative activities, exercises and relaxation - all of these activities are accompanied by the native English speaking teacher's English, making the children perceive it as a natural means of communication. In good weather, the programme includes a walk and playing in the garden.
Kindergarten
Wattsenglish methodology is also used in bilingual kindergartens. Such kindergartens raise children in a natural bilingual environment, just like in bilingual families. Children are educated and raised in both their mother tongue and English, which they use in communicating with their native English speaking teacher (the pedagogical team is bilingual).
